Classic Fall Pieces

It’s that time of year again! It’s almost the end of July, which means fall is right around the corner. Maybe this post is a bit premature, but I’m enormously excited for the autumn season! We all have so much to look forward to. School, fall trends, etc.. The following is a list of things every girl should purchase or bring out of their closet again before the end of summer or beginning of fall. They aren’t in any particular order; each item is of equal importance!

10) Fitted Blazer
Blazers are very important, due to their versatility. Blazers are great purchases because they can be paired with dresses and leggings, jeans, or skirts. They also offer practicality because they cover your arms to keep in warmth during the fall and winter months. A fitted look is best because it’ll stay classic for longer and can be paired with more, although the boyfriend blazer is also very popular this fall.

Splurge: Twenty8Twelve Calandra Jacket, BlueFly $222.70
Deal: Lux Little Brother Blazer, Urban Outfitters $68.00

9) One Shoulder Dress
One shoulder dresses were seen all over the fall 2009 runways and they’re a very wearable trend. They look sleek and sophisticated. Shoulders are an incredibly alluring part of a woman’s body and as reported by fashion magazines all over the world, are growing in popularity! Apparently it is now very hip to show them off or draw strong attention to them. So grab anything that is either shoulder-less or has very structured shoulders.

Splurge: Alexander Wang Goddess Dress, Sax Fifth Avenue $590.00
Deal: Free People 'A Night's Party' Dress, Nordstrom $68.00

8) Over-the-Knee Boots
I was thrilled when I heard that over the knee boots are all the rage. College Fashion reported that once they were seen on Blake Lively on Gossip Girl, retailers went nuts. They are very fashion-forward when worn properly. They’re going to be in loads of stores this fall and work well with leggings, jeans, and skirts.

Splurge: Steve Madden Insayne Boot, Nordstrom $208.90
Deal: Chinese Laundry Turbo Boot, Chinese Laundry $89.99

7) One-of-a-Kind Bag
I believe a purse should speak volumes about your personality. Brights and neons are very popular as of late, and your taste should be perfectly represented in your purse choice. Colors tell a lot about a person and can really jazz up a dismal, fall wardrobe.

Splurge: Marc by Marc Jacobs Satchel Bag, Net-a-Porter $548.00
Deal: Jessica Simpson Metropolitan Satchel, Piperlime $108.00

6) Cardigan
Personally, I think everyone should own as many cardigans as possible! I’m dreadfully obsessed with them. They’ve gone from being an elementary school teacher look to a cute and fashionable staple that should be in every girl’s closet. They can change your summer tops into fall tops, as well as provide warmth in those cool fall mornings. They also can be dressed up as well as dressed down, and come in so many fantastic colors.

Splurge: Hayden Cashmere Sweater, BluFly $109.65
Deal: Ruffle Trimmed Cardigan, Gap $49.50

5) A-Symmetrical Vest
Since the tough look is very popular as of late, you can imagine how popular biker vests have become. The rough, dangerous looking pieces paired with stiletto heels and a tight jean is the way to go. Anything with studs, zippers, and lots of harsh black that you bought last season is still very hip. Keep it out and pair it with something to fit the fall weather.

Splurge: Juicy Couture Motorcycle Hoodie Vest, Saks Fifth Avenue $148.00
Deal: (Minus The) Leather Vest, Express $88.00

4) Great Jeans
When it comes to jeans, it’s hard to go wrong. I, personally, am excited to go jean shopping. Beachy-wide-leg jeans, super skinny dark jeans and ripped-to-hell jeans are all going to be seen in loads of stores. When it comes to jeans, it’s a must have for fall wear.

Splurge: True Religion Gwen Skinny Jean, Shop Bop $216.00
Deal: Zelda Skinny Leg Cuffed Jean, Express $69.50

3) Layered Necklaces
Layers upon layers of necklaces and jewelry will remain as popular as it has been the past few seasons. This big, attention-grabbing look dresses up any outfit that seems too plain.

Splurge: Juicy Couture "Chain Swag Drama" Necklace, Bloomingdales $178.00
Deal: Layered Chain Necklace, Charlotte Russe $6.99

2) Leggings
I cannot stress the importance of a great pair of leggings for cool weather. They can transform your summery dresses into fall wear to be worn time and time again. There are many different kinds; plain neutrals, bright colors, and patterned. Try H&M or Express, both have the nicest leggings you’ll ever wear, I promise you. There's really no reason to post any photos or links of leggings to splurge on because these two stores will give you the best leggings you need. Don't waste your money on expensive tights because there's no sense in it!

Deal: Metallic Ankle Tight, Express $19.50

1) Classic Peacoat
A pea coat should be a staple in your closet forever. There are many different kinds; long, short, different colors, etc. One that shows off your body and fits it well is going to be needed once the weather turns downhill. Even if the weather is bad, it doesn’t mean you have to drown your body in a warm, massive coat! Get a cute, fitted one that will last. I know I’ve got my eye on a few select super bright coats for the coming cool weather!

Splurge: Andrew Marc Double Breasted Peacoat, Nordstrom $349.99
Deal: Wool Belted Coat, Express $198.00
